This post is for my family and friends who follow my blog because I'm too sad to actually talk about this and it seems easier to write it just once, rather than send emails to everyone.
Our Bonnie died this afternoon. She was 13, and the most loving and good natured dog I've ever known. She also had a great big personality, and as a proper Sheltie, treated our kids like her sheep and herded them every chance she could when she was younger. We have so many good memories.
Steve and I both held her as she passed and it seemed peaceful for her, but it was torture for us. Even when you think you are prepared and you know what is coming, I guess nothing really prepares you for the pain of the actual event. It was 1000 times harder than I expected, and I am a million times more heartbroken than I ever imagined...

So very sorry to hear of your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. My thoughts are with you and your family
Oh I'm so so sorry to hear this. She looks like such a beautiful dog on the picture and I know she was happy to be with you at the end. I've lost pets too and they are truly family as well. My prayers are with you.

I'm sorry Laurie! I know that our pets are like family members and losing one is just heart-breaking. She lived a long and lovely life safely encompassed in your family, you gave her the best home she could of had. *HUGS*
I'm sorry for your loss. Just as everyone has said, Pets are memebers of the family. One of my cats passed away 2 years ago and I know what you are going through. Best wishes to you and your family. My heart goes out to you.
So sad for you...thinking of you and your family today and wishing you many happy memories.
All the best,
Alison
I'm so sorry for your loss. Bonnie looks like such a sweet lass -- and I know how difficult it is to lose a pet. Take care! And give yourself time to grieve. Losses like this are never easy.
Thank you for all your kind comments. Lo, you just reminded me that Bonnie's full name was Wyndancer's Bonnie Lass...
Oh, Laurie, my eyes are welling up and my heart is just breaking for you and your family. Loosing a beloved pet is one of the hardest things in the world. I am so very sorry. She was a beautiful girl. You have my sincerely sympathy and heartfelt prayers.
Laurie, although I do not know you, my heart is aching for you. I lost my Rosie three years ago, after 21 years together. I still cry for her sometimes. I am so sorry for the hurt you're feeling.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My pets are part of the family, and it's no easier to lose them, then it is a human family memeber. Hope happy memories of Bonnie will return and heal your hearts.
Oh sweetie I am sorry.
Call me if you need to cry, vent, talk or have some girlie giggles.
I know how hard this is. Focus on those crazy chickens--they'll make your heart stronger and full of love again.
What a lovely little girl! I am so sorry for your loss.
Such a beautiful and well-loved member of your family--I am so sorry for your loss. What a happy life she had with all of you.
Shes's a beautiful girl. Never easy to say goodbye. You were with her till the end, and for that I'm sure she was grateful.
